Role Overview:

We seek experienced English Teachers to deliver both general and specialist English courses. Specialist courses can vary from courses aimed at helping students with particular pronunciation difficulties, to workshops which focus on developing students’ understanding of Grammar for Academic Writing. A Higher Teacher in the English Department is also expected to provide mentorship to junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching (70%)

?Teach undergraduate English courses using materials provided by the department, published and self-made materials.

? Administer and mark regular assessments and hold small group tutorials to provide students with feedback on their progress and give them guidance and encouragement in making necessary improvements.

Mentoring (30%)

Provide structured and systematic guidance to junior colleagues on teaching matters such as lesson planning and classroom management.

Requirements:

? Strong English proficiency (IELTS 7.0 or equivalent).

? Master’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics or related field.

? CELTA/TESOL certification (we favour face-to-face over online delivery)

? 900+ hours English teaching experience (equivalent to 3 years full time).

Preferred

? Experience of overseas university study or work

? Background or interest in STEM subjects (i.e. Science, Technology,Engineering, Mathematics).
